Credit是信贷的意思吗
credit squeeze指的是“信贷紧缩”。所谓信贷紧缩，就是指经营贷款的金融机构提高贷款标准，信贷资金难以满足社会再生产的合理需求的现象。产生信贷紧缩的具体原因是多方面的，如不良贷款造成银行资本的侵蚀；过度信贷膨胀最终导致信贷收缩；制度性改革抑制贷款的有效增长；以及金融中介信用下降导致金融非中介化等。同样表示信贷紧缩的英文说法还有credit crunch和credit crisis。不过credit crunch要比credit squeeze程度更加严重，而credit crisis则指信贷紧缩导致的“信贷危机”。在credit squeeze这个词组中，credit的意思是“信用、信贷”，而squeeze就是“紧缩”的意思。如果企业一直拖欠银行的贷款不还，造成不良贷款（bad loan），那么银行就会拒绝再贷款给那家企业（The bank would refuse further credits to that company）。由于金融危机造成的经济衰退，许多企业都无法如期偿还贷款，这样银行就只好提高贷款标准，紧缩银根，也就是信贷紧缩。Squeeze的原意是“挤、榨”。银行的资金就像一管牙膏，当牙膏管里有充足的牙膏，轻轻一挤（squeeze）就出来了，但是如果每个人都来挤牙膏，却没有新的牙膏补充进牙膏管，牙膏就越来越少，要挤出来就变得不容易了。Squeeze作名词还可以解释为“拮据，紧缺，经济困难”。例如：housing squeeze（住房紧缺）；the squeeze between low wages and high prices（工资低物价高造成的经济拮据）；inflict a tight squeeze on the consumer（给消费者带来严重的经济压力）。
